The WLI team connects with communities outside of Louisiana to share insights and to continue developing best practices.

In January 2019, Tanya James and Maggie Hermann participated in knowledge exchange and workshops with the German Marshall Fund and the City of Turin in Italy on community-based climate adaptation. A WLI-led webinar and a follow-up visit to New Orleans this September will continue to strengthen this trans-Atlantic dialogue.

Crossing the Pacific Ocean at the same time, Aron Chang joined the Housing for Health Incubator and the University of Sydney in Australia for a panel discussion on “Living with Water: Questions for Policy and Action” on January 17. The next day, Aron led a design session as part of the “Working with Water” workshops, using case studies from New Orleans to share methodologies for incorporating citizens into decision-making as part of difficult urban planning and design challenges. During his time in Sydney, he also met with the Resilient Sydney team, as well as researchers and activists engaged in a range of climate adaptation efforts.
