Story Circles
To begin to share understanding, Water Leaders gather in small groups for a story circle, a process derived from John O’Neal and the Free Southern Theater. Each person shares how managing or living with water has been important to them and their neighborhood.

“The group interaction was out of this world. Our storytelling really worked well to break the silence.”

Frameworks for Connecting Experiences
Water Leaders share memories of major and minor weather events and the impact of those events on their lives -- everything from wet socks to struggling to find family during a hurricane. We plot these events on a graph to connect these individual experiences through the science of recurrence and scale, while also identifying jurisdictions and responsibilities for managing water and risk.
